HARP 2.0 Refinance Checklist - Steps To Getting Approved

Determine If Your Loan Is Backed By Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac

You can check "lookup" forms on the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac web sites. However, keep in mind that these web forms are not always accurate as the address would have to be exactly the same as was recorded with Fannie or Freddie.

Some important things to remember:

Applying for a HARP loan in Washington State may initially be quite confusing given the number of forms that need to be completed. If you have questions, please ask us for help. If you have special concerns or circumstances, feel free to call us and discuss it.

Stay current on your loan. Many people are advising Homeowners to go into default on their mortgages in order to obtain loan modifications or short sale approvals. The HARP Refinance Program is intended for people who are current on their mortgages in the last 6 months with only one 30-Day late payment within the last 12 months. Don't disqualify yourself!

Do not make the mistake of applying for large credit lines, buying new vehicles or increasing your credit card limit. This will undoubtedly negatively affect the debt to income ratio and could disqualify you from getting a HARP loan.

One last tip:

We can only move as fast as you do. Providing your documentation quickly and as complete as possible will speed up your loan approval process. When submitting your papers, make sure that you keep all originals that may be verified against enclosed copies if required. These include bank statements, check stubs and all assorted loan papers for your loan process.
